The essentials for an effective translation for the lion, the witch and the wardrobe

The big ideas that film version of the novel must contain are the parts where the white witch and aslan speak of the deep magic of Narnia. ALso the prophecy that Narnia has for the the four children to fulfill. These to key element which are meantioned many times in the book must be mentioned throughout the movie because the storyline is told around it. Aslan comes back from the dead b/c of the deepest magic in Narnia which the White WItch had no idea about. With this being said, the deep magic and the prophecy of the four children sitting at Cair Paravel o nthe thrones may be the two most important things that should be told throughout the movie fro mthe book. In order for this film to be appropriate for children and adults many things must be kept unsaid, but other things liek the war scene should be very entertaining and keep the audience jumping out of their seats. The love betweeen the children as siblings would be good for children viewing it today because it shows how family must stick together no matter what heppens to the them, traitor or not. THe adults would also be more interested in the battle scene towards the end which is made very exciting when the witch is mauled by the great lion Aslan jumping ten feet through the air right at her face and biting it off. These two things are very important because a wide range of variety of viewers is a very important aspect to a good film.

Effective Translation

What makes a successful and effective film translation? What are three evaluative criteria that you think are essential for assessing a film translation? Fully explain each.

Three evaluative criteria for an effective radical translation would be keeping up with modern times, maintaining the same story line, and having the same character development as the text interprets. Keeping up with modern times is very important because if the book was written very long ago then people are going to want to see old times, they want to see new things new ideas and new places. Doing this will help the director "hollywoodize" the movie and make it more excitign for the viewers. Maintaing the same story line is important because the author spent many horus writing his book and he doesnt want it to get butchered by some director that thinks he knows what hes doing. Last but not least the characte development is very important from page to screen. The director must show how the charcter changed from the beginning of the book t othe end of the book in the movie. Doing this will also help the movie maintain the story line of the book.

Adaptation review

My reaction to the movie adaptation was very suttle. I thought the movie was ridiculously boring, but the way they made the movie about actually makign the movie i thought was very cool. They made it seem like the movie was not yet made...but we were watching the movie in class. The life of a screen writer was also portrayed in this movie very well. it showed that you can't really write a screenplay if you got a lot of stuff on your mind. Nicloas cage filled the role well i thought just like he does in all of his movies. I would not ever watch this movie again unless there were more crazy stuff like when the alligator ate the man at the end.
